Asghar Farhadi's pic won Golden Bear at Berlin
LONDON — Brit indie distrib Artificial Eye has snapped up U.K. rights for Asghar Farhadi’s “A Separation.”
Pic, which nabbed the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival this year, is skedded for a July 22 release date in Blighty.
It is the fifth feature from Iranian helmer Farhadi and follows the story of a couple, Nader and Simin, who separate and the effects it has on their 11-year-old daughter. Set in contemporary Iran, pic stars Peyman Moaadi and Leila Hatami, who both won Silver Bears in Berlin for best actor and best actress.
Other acquisitions from Berlin for Artificial Eye include Hungarian pic “The Turin Horse,” helmed by Bela Tarr, Ismael Ferroukhi’s “Free Men,” toplining Tahar Rahim and Michael Lonsdale, and Italian pic “Salt of Life,” helmed by Gianni Di Gregorio.
