BERLIN — Frankfurt-based financial services outfit ABL Group has launched a new film production shingle aimed at the development, financing, production and distribution of German- and English-language pics.
The new company, Film House Germany, grew out of ABL’s ties to director Marco Kreuzpaintner’s Summerstorm Ent. ABL took a stake in Summerstorm last year.
Kreuzpaintner will direct the new company’s first pic, the gay-straight comedy “Coming In,” a theatrical remake of a 1997 TV movie by Thomas Bahmann about an gay man who suddenly develops feelings for a woman.
Roland Emmerich, who produced Kreuzpainter’s English-language debut, “Trade,” starring Kevin Kline, will also exec produce “Coming In” along with Christoph Mueller and Robert Leger.
The pic is set to shoot later this year.
Christian Angermayer, chief exec of ABL, also heads Film House.
