Normally, I wouldn’t get too excited about the Promax/BDA Broadcast Design Awards, until I noticed that NBC and its affiliates had won a total of 129 awards.
Um, 129 awards? Did anybody lose?
Then I went to Promax’s announcement, which listed 36 pages of gold, silver and bronze winners.
And I thought the Emmys were bad. Apparently, promo people are like children — everybody has to get a trophy.
I’d personally congratulate all the winners, but I’m afraid I might become light-headed and faint.
Anyway, the NBC tally of 129 awards breaks down as follows. per the network:
UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIF. – June 28, 2010 – The combined NBC Universal companies and programming divisions tallied an impressive 129 total awards from the prestigious PROMAX/BDA (Broadcast Design Awards) — paced by 37 from The NBC Agency and 33 from Syfy — in ceremonies that recently were conducted at the PROMAX and BDA International Conference in Los Angeles.
Syfy honors included the coveted #1 spot of the year award for its “House of Imagination” brand film. Additionally, the next highest individual channel totals for NBC Universal came from Bravo Media, which earned 11, while USA Network captured nine and Oxygen Media garnered four PROMAX/BDA wins.
The awards represent the world’s premier association of promotion, marketing and design professionals in electronic media.
“Once again the talented marketers of the NBC Universal family had their creativity rewarded at PROMAX — rewarded 129 times to be exact,” said John Miller, Chief Marketing Officer, NBC Universal Television Group. “The company celebrates the special efforts of these talented marketers everyday and it is gratifying to know that others agree.”
