Michael Jack, former prexy and g.m. of NBC O&O WRC-TV Washington, has been named to the same position at Peacock’s flagship station WNBC-TV New York.
Tom O’Brien, the station’s former head, will move to the role of exec veep of NBC’s Nonstop Network. The changes are effective immediately.
At WNBC, O’Brien launched local digital channel NY Nonstop (which is under WNBC but has its own programs, including a 7 p.m. newscast with Chuck Scarborough). Going forward, O’Brien will use the Nonstop model as a template to build other digital channels starting in D.C., Los Angeles, Chicago and Philadelphia.
“The development and launch of NY Nonstop has been a great success for us in New York,” said NBC Local Media prexy John Wallace. “Tom’s leadership will be invaluable as we develop this important property for our other stations across the country.”
Jack will oversee all of NBC’s Gotham-based local media assets including the broadcast station, the website and NY Nonstop.
Both O’Brien and Jack will report to Wallace.
