Will ‘Army Wives’ break Gabrielle Union’s bad TV luck?

Is Gabrielle Union’s lack of small-screen luck finally about to change?

Next up, the “Bring It On” actress has just been cast in Lifetime’s “Army Wives” spinoff, opposite “Wives” star Brigid Brannagh (details here).

Given the better-than-average track record recently for spinoffs (see: “NCIS,” “CSI,” “Grey’s Anatomy”), the new “Army Wives” splinter show might finally give Union some steady TV employment.

That could mean good news for the thesp, as she has consistently wound up on short-lived series.

This past season, that meant a role on ABC’s now-canceled “FlashForward.” Before that, she appeared on NBC’s not-so-alive “Life.” Union’s regular gigs also included the equally short “Night Stalker” and “City of Angels.”

The actress has had better luck with guest stints on shows like “Ugly Betty” and “Friends.” Stay tuned.
