Broadway Tonight benefit honors Zemeckis, Halperin

It’s not often that you see presenters vying to present the award, but on Monday Randy Jackson, Matthew Morrison and Teri Hatcher all fought for the honor of introducing Missy Halperin, arguing over who knew the senior VP of talent at Fox Broadcasting best.

“What’s her bowling average?” Morrison asked Hatcher, to which she replied, “You and Missy have a bowl-off?!”

The Broadway Tonight benefit marking the 10th anni of WeSpark at Glendale’s Alex Theater featured perfs from stars including Wayne Brady, Eric McCormack and Adam Pascal. Emceed by Alonzo Bodden, who thanked the crowd for “taking a night off from ‘Dancing With the Stars,’” the charity also feted helmers Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale for their support of the cancer outreach center.

Halperin herself got the biggest laugh of the night when she she quoted Lily Tomlin saying, “Giving back is the new putting out.” She then told the aud it was “a wonderful group of charity prostitutes.”
