Showtime got Saturday’s pre-Emmy parties off to a nice start with an intimate gathering by the pool at SkyBar.
The “Nurse Jackie” contingent was out in force — co-creator Liz Brixius aglow in gold lame harem pants — as was the “Dexter” crew. The impact of Showtime’s recent exec shuffle was demonstrated by the presence of “Friday Night Light’s” thesp nominees Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton: They came at the invitation of David Nevins, the newly minted Showtime entertainment chief who previously headed Imagine TV. His predecessor, Bob Greenblatt, also made the rounds and was peppered with questions about his next exec move.
Perhaps the most heartfelt conversation of the evening was one between John Lithgow and Showtime chairman Matt Blank. Lithgow didn’t get three steps into the party before he embraced Blank and offered a mea culpa for his gaffe at the Creative Arts Emmys ceremony last weekend. (When accepting his win for “Dexter,” he cited HBO by mistake). “I felt so wretched,” Lithgow told Blank.
By Saturday evening, all was forgiven.
