Tomlin casting for opportunities at awards ceremony

Comedian cuts up at Artios Awards

“This may be the biggest opportunity of my career,” host Lily Tomlin told a packed room of casting directors. “I’ve put an eight-by-10 of my resume in all of the gift bags.”

The Casting Society of America’s 26th annual Artios Awards at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel saw casting director Ellen Chenoweth and producer Marcy Carsey taking home the top kudos on Monday night.

“True Blood’s” Joe Manganiello remembered a time when he was a struggling actor working construction, and was hired to fix up Carsey’s house. “I want to thank all of those wonderful faces out there who helped me get out of Marcy’s backyard,” he opined.

Regarding the casting trophies, Tomlin issued words of warning. She once won a similarly shaped kudo and kept it on her windowsill: “It literally caught the curtains on fire. I suggest you set it on a bookcase made of iron.” — Michael Sullivan
