Today I interviewed a squirrel in my backyard and then threw to commercial. Somebody help me.
Eleven minutes after sending that first Tweet, Conan already had nearly 800 followers. I'm sure that number will be in the thousands before the day is out. (I'll enjoy these brief few minutes when I actually have more Twitter followers than Conan O'Brien.)
Follow him here. Conan's bio: I had a show. Then I had a different show. Now I have a Twitter account.
UPDATE: In the two minutes it took to write this post, Conan's follower tally already jumped to 4,500. Sigh — my Twitter dominance over him was fun for the 11 minutes it lasted.
5 P.M. UPDATE: Wow, Conan's tally has now hit 100,000 followers. At this rate, he could easily have more than a million followers within the week — especially if he starts regularly Tweeting. And yes, there's more than a little irony now that the host, who famously mocked inane celeb Tweets in his "Tonight Show" "Twitter Tracker" segment, is now on the service himself!
Among late night talk show hosts, Jimmy Fallon has most completely embraced the medium; Craig Ferguson, meanwhile, also just recently joined the service.
