They’re with CoCo: A report from today’s Conan rally

Coco1
Despite the rain, a hefty crowd of Conan O’Brien fans crowded outside Universal Studios’ Gate 2 in support of the talk show host, who’s expected to give up the “Tonight Show” reins on Friday.

O’Brien and sidekick Andy Richter waved to the crowd from the top of the “Tonight Show” building, while Max Weinberg 7 bandmate Richie “La Bamba” Rosenberg rode around the rally in a “popemobile”-style vehicle.

Coco2 Later, “Tonight Show” staff members came out with boxes of pizza. TMZ covered the rally live via web streaming, while LAist’s Zach Behrens took these photos and filed this report:

Around three to four hundred hardcore Conan O’Brien fans braved the drenching rain to rally for the Tonight Show outside Universal Studios this afternoon. “Jay Leno sucks!” the crowd chanted in between screaming at passing by cars as horns were honked. Packed to capacity, people spilled out onto Lankershim Boulevard before police calmed and spread the crowd out.

Security stopped fans from entering studio property, but the driveway entrance was incapacitated. “Conan stopped the rain,” crowds chanted as blue skies peeked out.

The whole time, people were just screaming their heads off. Celebrity chaos at its best.
