TCA adds unscripted category to awards

Television crix kudos to get new addition next season

Keeping in tune with viewers’ voracious appetite for reality, the Television Critics Assn. has added an unscripted entertainment category for next season’s kudos.

Newest award will bring the total to 12, still a relatively low number for a show honoring TV’s best. The TCA Awards take place annually on the Saturday night during the summer tour.

“Glee” took three prizes at Saturday’s TCA Awards, winning for program of the year, top new show and Jane Lynch won top comedy performer. “Modern Family” was tabbed best comedy while “Lost” and “Breaking Bad” tied for top drama.

The TCA tour will continue through Saturday at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.
