Jon Stewart said on Tuesday’s “The Daily Show” that the Oct. 30 “Rally to Restore Sanity” in Washington D.C. would be broadcast live on Comedy Central and streamed live at ComedyCentral.com.

“When we originally announced the rally, we said it was for the people who are usually too busy to go to rallies,” Stewart said. “Well, funny story: Some very sensible people then said that, ‘I’m too busy to go to your rally.’ Which is a great point.

“So what we have decided to do, and Comedy Central has been very kind to do, is we are going to stream the rally on our website, and we are going to broadcast it live on Comedy Central. Yes, yes – broadcast it live on Comedy Central. Comedy Central is willing to preempt the network’s regularly scheduled mid-afternoon Saturday broadcast of Broken Lizard’s Club Dread. That’s how important they think it is. So, if you’re planning to attend the rally, we would love to have you there. If you’re not, if you want to go to perhaps a little satellite rally, hopefully there’ll be a TV there, and it’ll be available at the low, low price of, whad’ya call it, basic cable.”

The broadcast will also include, of course, Stewart colleague Stephen Colbert’s dueling “March To Keep Fear Alive,” Comedy Central said.
