Star Chinese signs Huayi pay TV deal

Channel gets rights for Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore

HONG KONG — Star Chinese Movies has signed an exclusive pay TV deal with top Chinese shingle Huayi Brothers, which will give the movie channel exclusive cable TV, pay-per-view and video on demand rights to its 2011 upcoming productions for Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore.

Included in the deal are big-budget titles such as the Feng Xiaogang helmed “If You Are the One 2″and the animated film “Old Master Q.”

The two groups had previously signed a collaboration deal on two other Huayi titles, “Aftershock” and “Detective Dee.”

Star Chinese Movies has exclusive output deals with a number of leading Hong Kong/China shingles, including Media Asia for Hong Kong and Taiwan, and Emperor Motion Pictures for Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and the Philippines.
