Scott Caan’s moment has come with “Hawaii Five-0”

Scottcaan I have seen the pilot, and I’m here to tell ya — Scott Caan is going to become a star on the back of “Hawaii Five-0.”

The pilot is great fun, a high-octane romp rooted in a good, solid conspiracy mystery. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, thank goodness. Alex O’Loughlin is good, Daniel Dae Kim is great, but it’s Scott Caan who’s going to get the big Kahuna of a career boost from “Five-0.” He’s the charming rogue, funny and sexy and a little smarmy here and there, but mostly funny and sexy.

Caan (pictured left with “Parenthood” co-star Erika Christensen) plays Danny Williams to O’Loughlin’s Steve McGarrett.

(On first viewing I thought O’Loughlin was playing the son of Steve McGarrett, because a key plot point involves his father who was a revered figure in Hawaiian law enforcement, but I’m told by impeccable sources that O’Loughlin’s Steve McGarrett is simply new-model Steve McGarrett without any father-son link. Glad we cleared that up…)
