Science Channel gets cooking

'Blasin'' series to use new technique for American classics

Chef Richard Blais is set to topline Science Channel’s cooking skein “Blaisin’.”

The new half-hour series will have “Top Chef” and “Iron Chef America” alum Blais recreate classic American dishes using modern tools and techniques.

Production recently wrapped on a pair of pilots in Gotham.

“I’m ready to show the world that anyone can recreate a classic without sacrificing great taste. All it takes is knowing the science behind cooking and a willingness to take some risks,” said Blais.Maryland-based Science Channel, guided by g.m. Debbie Myers, is part of the Discovery Communications empire. Fujisankei Communications Intl. is producing.

Brant Reiter, Scott Miller and Christo Doyle will exec produce.
