New TV division topper will oversee marts

LISBON — TV trade fair organizer Reed Midem has named Laurine Garaude as its new television division director.

Garaude will have oversight of Reed Midem’s two major TV marts, April’s Mip TV and October’s Mipcom, as well as kid/youth mini-mart Mip Junior and docu forum Mip Doc.

Garaude has served as Reed Midem acting TV division director since last January when she replaced Paul Johnson who stepped down to join Endemol.

As the international TV market toughens, Garaude’s challenge will be to launch initiatives that continue to attract execs to Reed Midem’s marts.

She oversaw the October launch of the Online Screenings, which offered buyers attending Mip Junior web access to all of its 2009 program catalogue.

On April 11, the very eve of Mip TV, Garaude will launch a new event, Mip Formats, a one-day conference plus pitching forum.

Garaude, a Yale graduate, joined Reed Midem in 1993 to launch and direct Milia, an interactive content mart.

Her promotion takes effect immediately. Reed Midem is owned by Variety parent, the Reed Elsevier publishing group.
