'Bachlorette,' 'Beauty' show growth

Reality skeins “The Bachelorette” and “True Beauty” were enough to put ABC over the top Monday night. Both shows showed a slight uptick over performances from a week ago.

Though the two-hour “The Bachelorette” (2.7 rating/9 share, 8.1 million viewers) was the top-rated show of the night, CBS’ venerable sitcom “Two and a Half Men” (2.3/7, 8.5m) was the most-watched, and timeslot follow-up “The Big Bang Theory” (2.5/7, 8.3m) was also well-watched. At 10 p.m. Alphabet’s “True Beauty” (2.0/6, 5.4m) was slightly better than “CSI: Miami” (1.7/5, 7.6m). NBC’s “Persons Unknown (1.1/2, 3.2m), down 8% from a week ago, didn’t factor in at all.

Fox offered originals of “Lie to Me” (1.8/6, 5.9m) and “The Good Guys” (1.2/4, 4.3m). “Lie to Me” was off 10% but Fox may be more concerned with the performance of “The Good Guys,” which is slotted in a fall Friday 9 o’clock timeslot. Execs may want to rethink that strategy if the show continues to fail in finding an aud.

NBC telecast a repeat of “Last Comic Standing” at 8 p.m., followed by an original episode at 9 that drew a 1.8/5, 4.1m, down a substantial 18% from a week ago.

Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: ABC, 2.5/8; CBS, 1.9/6; Univision, 1.6/5; Fox, 1.5/5; NBC, 1.3/4; CW, 0.3/1.

In total viewers: ABC, 7.2 million, CBS, 7.1 million; Fox, 5.1 million; Univision, 4.0 million; NBC, 3.4 million; CW, 835,000.
