PromaxBDA to honor late marketing exec Ron Scalera

Ron Marketing/promotion/design trade org PromaxBDA has announced a new award in honor of CBS marketing exec Ron Scalera (above, doing the other thing he loved most: playing guitar), who passed away unexpectedly in April.

The Ron Scalera Rocket Award will be presented next week as part of PromaxBDA’s annual conference — held this year here in Los Angeles.

According to PromaxBDA, the Ron Scalera Rocket Award “is designed to recognize a producer or marketer with two years or less experience in promotion or marketing, who is already creating outstanding work.”

Scalera was not only a long-running CBS marketing exec, but also served as a PromaxBDA Board of Directors member. He was a key member of CBS’ team, spearheading the network’s marketing as executive vice president and creative director of CBS Marketing Group.

“Ron Scalera was one of the industry’s great marketers and a dear friend to many of us in the PromaxBDA community,” said Jonathan Block-Verk, President and CEO of PromaxBDA. “We are honored to have the support of Ron’s family in memorializing his legacy of excellence that started at an early stage in his career.”

The Ron Scalera Rocket Award will be presented at the PromaxBDA Promotions and Marketing Awards on June 24, hosted by comedian Norm MacDonald at the JW Marriott in downtown Los Angeles.

The PromaxBDA conference takes place June 22 through June 24 at the L.A. Live complex.
