Fox has given a put pilot order to “Connected,” a single-camera family comedy from “American Dad” scribe Nahnatchka Khan and documentary producer R.J. Cutler.
Project, which landed at Fox after a bidding skirmish with other nets (including ABC), centers on two families that find themselves linked by a romantic relationship between their teenage kids.
Twentieth Century Fox TV is behind the show. Khan is writing the project and exec producing, while Cutler will also exec produce. Ann Blanchard is also an exec producer.
Unusual partnership between Khan and Cutler came together after the two met and hit it off. Khan was looking to get back into the live-action comedy biz, while Cutler aims to field scripted series projects, though he will use his docu background to add a real-life feel to the show.
Cutler, who was behind the recent feature doc “The September Issue,” has had a busy TV producing career as of late on the unscripted side, producing shows such as “30 Days,” “Flip That House” and “American Candidate.”
Besides “American Dad,” Khan’s credits include “Unfabulous” and “Malcolm in the Middle.”
