Peter Bart, Peter Guber return for more ‘In the House’

Showbiz talk show returns to cabler Encore on Dec. 9

Just in time for awards season, cabler Encore has renewed “In the House,” the showbiz news and chatfest hosted by Peter Bart and Peter Guber.

The half-hour series bows its second season on the Starz Entertainment pay cabler Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m. Notables who guested on the show in its first season include Mark Wahlberg, Jeff Bridges, Kathryn Bigelow, James Franco, Quentin Tarantino, Morgan Freeman, Harrison Ford, Betty White, Mel Brooks, Carl Reiner and Helen Mirren.

“Bart and Guber are industry stalwarts whose conversations and interviews dig beneath the typical spin and gossip,” Stephan Shelanski, Starz’s exec veep of programming, said in announcing the pickup.

Bart is editorial director and former editor of Variety and a former top film exec at Paramount, MGM/UA and Lorimar. Guber headed Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Entertainment before launching his Mandalay Entertainment shingle in 1995.

“In the House” is exec produced by Susan Winston for RayV Prods., with support from Sony Pictures Entertainment. A sibling version of the show dubbed “Show Business,” tailored for industry insiders in Los Angeles, airs on KNBC-TV Los Angeles in the post-“Saturday Night Live” timeslot. For season two it will add a repeat in the Sunday 10 a.m. slot.

U.K.’s 3DD Prods. handles international sales and distribution of “In the House.”
