Oprah net adds reality skeins for 'The Judds' and 'O'Neals'

The puzzle pieces are falling into place as the Jan. 1 launch of OWN approaches.

The long-awaited joint venture of Oprah Winfrey and Discovery Communications will bow at noon ET with a preview special hosted by Oprah Winfrey. The cabler will also offer sneak preview episodes of its signature programs.

To stock up for its launch, OWN has picked up a handful of celeb-driven reality series, including “Ryan and Tatum: The O’Neals” from Endemol USA. That project, which centers on reuniting the estranged father and daughter, was pitched to networks over the summer as “Lost and Found” (Daily Variety, Aug. 4). “The Judds” features country music legends Naomi and Wynonna Judd. “Carson-Nation” is hosted by fashion and design expert Carson Kressley, who also is a part of OWN’s previously announced “Your Own Show” talent competish series.

OWN’s inaugural series include “Ask Oprah’s All-Stars” with Suze Orman, Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz; “Cristina’s Big Bowl of Love” with Cristina Ferrare; “Enough Already With Peter Walsh”; “The Gayle King Show”; “In the Bedroom With Dr. Laura Berman”; “Kidnapped by the Kids”; “Miracle Detectives”; “Oprah Presents Master Class”; “Our America With Lisa Ling”; “Searching For …”; “Season 25: Oprah Behind the Scenes”; and “Your Own Show: Oprah’s Search for the Next TV Star.”

OWN will also run off-net episodes of “Dr. Phil” (dubbed “Best of Dr. Phil”); repeats of TLC’s “Trading Spaces,” with new wrap-arounds from host Paige Davis; and has acquired the Canadian series “Anna and Kristina’s Grocery Bag.”

The channel’s regular daytime sked then kicks off on Jan. 3, with “The Gayle King Show” at 10 a.m.; “Anna and Kristina’s Grocery Bag” at 3 p.m., “Cristina’s Big Bowl of Love” at 3:30, “Trading Spaces” at 4 and “Best of Dr. Phil” at 7.

OWN’s initial primetime lineup includes “Enough Already With Peter Walsh” and “In the Bedroom With Dr. Laura Berman” on Mondays; “Mystery Diagnosis” and “Miracle Detectives” on Wednesdays; “Season 25: Oprah Behind the Scenes” and “Your Own Show: Oprah’s Search for the Next TV Star” on Fridays; “Ask Oprah’s All-Stars,” “Our America With Lisa Ling” and “Oprah Presents Master Class” on Sundays.
