Note to Todd Bridges: You’re Not Quite The Last Drummond Kid Standing

After Gary Coleman passed away on Friday, “Diff’rent Strokes” kid Todd Bridges told the Associated Press, “It’s unfortunate. It’s a sad day…It’s sad that I’m the last kid alive from the show.”

Not quite: You may remember, in a “jump the shark” moment, in the final two seasons of “Diff’rent Strokes” the show added Dixie Carter (later replaced by Mary Ann Mobley) into the mix as Mr. Drummond’s new wife. And Carter’s character brought along a fast-talking, cute little tyke of her own — “Sam McKinney,” played by Danny Cooksey.

It was widely understood that Cooksey was brought in when Coleman had aged to a point where he could no longer fit the “cute kid” role. Imagine what that probably did to poor Coleman’s self-esteem.

Carter, of course, also recently passed away. Tough times for Mr. Drummond.
