Confab unveils plans for Jan. 24-26 gathering in Miami

Organizers at NATPE are betting that the confab will score higher attendance numbers and more market attention in its new location of Miami than it has drawn in years past.

The TV industry conference will be held Jan. 24-26 in Miami after many years in Las Vegas. NationalAssn. of Television Program Executives prexy-CEO Rick Feldman said registration is already pacing ahead of where it was this time last year.

“We had, give or take, 5,000 people (at the 2010 confab), and more than half of them came in after Jan. 1,” Feldman said in a Thursday ayem conference call. “Right now, I think we’ll be maybe where we were last year, maybe a little bit ahead.”

Org was bullish on the return of Disney and Sony to the conference and on the relocation in general. Feldman said that it appears the conference will be successful enough to remain in Florida for the 2012 edition.

Among speakers set for this year’s gathering are Netflix’s Ted Sarandos, AOL’s David Eun, MTV Networks’ Doug Herzog, Electus’ Ben Silverman, Univision’s Cesar Conde and ITV Studios’ Paul Buccieri.
