Olbermann producers migrate to new O'Donnell show
MSNBC continues to shuffle producers from “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” to the cabler’s upcoming 10 p.m. talker with Lawrence O’Donnell.
“Countdown” senior producer Greg Kordick has been named exec producer on O’Donnell’s program, where he will report to former “Countdown” showrunner Izzy Povich. Povich’s exit from the talker was announced Monday — the first day of Olbermann’s two-week vacation.
Meanwhile, longtime “Countdown” senior producer Rich Stockwell has been tapped to replace Povich as exec producer. Stockwell has been a senior producer on the program since its 2003 debut.
O’Donnell is filling in for Olbermann during his vacation. However, Olbermann interrupted his time off Wednesday evening for a segment blasting Fox News and conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart for stirring up controversy for the Obama administration by airing video excerpts of a speech by U.S. Dept. of Agriculture official Shirley Sherrod, which mistakenly gave the impression that Sherrod, who is black, had admitted to bias against a white farmer who came to the department for assistance.
Amid the uproar raised by the Breitbart and Fox News coverage, the USDA this week asked Sherrod to resign but has since offered her a new position after reviewing the full-length video of her speech at an NAACP meeting.
