My "Lost" recap will be a day late this week because I had the pleasure of attending the "Breaking Bad" season three preem screening at the ArcLight and after-party hosted by AMC at nearby Milk Studios. The show's opening episode is explosive — literally — and deftly directed by star Bryan Cranston. There's a lot going on this season, fer sure.
"Breaking Bad" creator/exec producer Vince Gilligan soaked up the compliments from a long line of well-wishers that included his mom. In a sign of how hot the show is within the biz, the party was also crawling with actors, writers and producers from other shows. "Mad Men's" Jon Hamm was ultra casual in jeans, a Dylan-esque peaked cap and a one-day growth of beard. Other "Mad Men"-ers on board were Matthew Weiner (pictured far right with Vince Gilligan), Michael Gladis, Rich Sommer and Jared Harris. "The Office's" Brian Baumgartner (pictured above right with Bryan Cranston) and Leslie David Baker made the rounds, as did "Parks and Recreation's" Aziz Ansari.
AMC chief Charlie Collier couldn't say enough about the strength of the storytelling and the work of the core troupe in season three. He made special mention of episode six as being "incredible."
