Johnny Webb to exit Group following BSkyB acquisition
LONDON — The managing director of Blighty’s Living TV Group, Johnny Webb, is ankling following its acquisition by News Corp.’s pay TV platform BSkyB.
Webb leaves at the end of January and has not revealed future plans.
Webb, famous for introducing poker to British TV at Challenge TV, has run U.K. Living since 2006, then known as Flextech.
In a statement he said, “With the sale of the Living TV Group completed and integration steaming ahead, now is the perfect time to move on to new challenges.”
BSkyB acquired Living as part of its £160 million ($254 million) purchase of Virgin Media’s channels in June.
The satcaster subsequently ditched the Virgin1 and Bravo channel brands.
Sophie Turner Laing, BSkyB’s managing director for entertainment, news and broadcast operations, thanked Webb “for playing a vital role in the integration of the Living TV Group into Sky.”
