Klutz falls for Brown

Matt Brown has been named president of children’s book line Klutz Books and senior veep at Scholastic, Klutz’s parent company.

Brown, formerly of branding agency and toy developer Big Boing (where he held the title “Play Czar”), will take over the position from recently retired Klutz co-founder John Cassidy, starting Sept. 7. He will report to Scholastic trade publishing prexy Ellie Berger.

“Matt’s contagious sense of fun and depth of experience developing and building brands in the children’s market make him perfectly suited to lead Klutz into the future,” Berger said.

During Brown’s tenure at Big Boing, the company partnered with such kidvid heavyweights as Nickelodeon and PBS Kids plus Disney’s retail division.
