“Hot in Cleveland” stars lean on LeBron

Hotincleveland Cynthia here: I’ve been meaning to write another post about “Hot in Cleveland.” Not only did I enjoy the pilot, but the second episode made me laugh out loud, and the third has Carl Reiner. What’s not to love?

But before I could get my thoughts together, this gem arrived in my inbox. The marketing whizzes at TV Land have not let the opportunity to climb on the LeBron James bandwagon slip by. Cast members Betty White, Valerie Bertinelli, Wendie Malick and Jane Leeves have recorded a video plea for the hot-shot NBA free agent to stay put with the Cleveland Cavaliers rather than decamp for greener pastures in a bigger market.

Betty delivers the killer line at the end, as only she can. Here’s the script for the spot that will pop up soon on TVLand.com.

Saturday update: Here’s the link!!

VALERIE: Hi, LeBron. Now that we’re Clevelanders, we wanted to join in the effort to get you to stay.

WENDIE: I’ve heard of him. He’s an athlete, right?

BETTY: He plays for The Cavaliers.

JANE: Isn’t a Cavalier like a French cowboy?

WENDIE: That makes sense because LeBron is a French name. I bet it’s hockey.

JANE: It’s also a very elegant name. Maybe he’s a figure skater.

VALERIE: Look at us, it’s like a sports bar in here.

BETTY: What’s wrong with you girls? He’s the best basketball player on the planet.

VALERIE: LeBron, please stay.

BETTY: I’ll make it worth your while…
