HBO takes over Pacific Design Center

Cabler celebrates Emmys with Tahitian-themed bash

HBO, taking over the Pacific Design Center, celebrated with a Tahitian-themed bash complete with go-go dancers on elevated platforms and lots of wicker and palm trees. Between the tribal drums and the DJ sets of Top 40 tunes, Virginia McDonald, the HBO receptionist, entertained the crowd with her best Donna Summer impression. As more than one cable exec explained it, “Virginia deserves to be in the spotlight.”

Partaking in the revelry were some of the night’s big winners: Jim Parsons, Aaron Paul, Gary Goetzman, Claire Danes, “Top Chef’s” Tom Colicchio and Padma Lakshmi, and HBO Films exec Len Amato, who scored big wins with “The Pacific” and “Temple Grandin.”

Chatting among the hibiscus flowers were Larry David, Ricky Gervais and Wanda Sykes, as well as Susan Sarandon and Judd Apatow.

The “True Blood” cast was especially well-represented, including Alexander Skarsgard, Sam Trammell, Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin.
