HBO renews ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’

Larry David comedy returning for eighth season

Larry David has found more ways to get himself in trouble.

“Curb Your Enthusiasm” is returning for an eighth season. HBO has always said its willing to continue with “Curb” as long as David — the creator, exec producer and star — wants to come up with a new season-long storyline.

Last season, David engineered a pseudo “Seinfeld” reunion when the gang from the seminal NBC series came back to appear on “Curb.” The new season will run 10 episodes with production set to begin in Los Angeles this summer and a debut set for 2011.

“After much soul searching — and by the way, it was nowhere to be found — I have decided to do another season of ‘Curb,'” said David. “I look forward to the end of shooting, when I can once again resume the hunt for my elusive soul. I know it’s here somewhere or perhaps in the rugged mountainous regions of Pakistan.”

Added HBO entertainment topper Michael Lombardo: “Larry always loves to paint himself into a corner, and after the incredibly wonderful seventh season of ‘Curb,’ you have to ask, ‘How does he ever top this?’ But he always finds a way. We can’t wait to see what he does in season eight.”

Besides David, “Curb” is exec produced by Jeff Garlin, Gavin Polone, Alec Berg, David Mandel, Jeff Schaffer, Tim Gibbons and Erin O’Malley.

Garlin, Cheryl Hines and Susie Essman co-star.
