Alliance for Women in Media hand out awards
Towncars sporting license plates with “Diva 60” and “Diva 37” delivered celebs Jessica Simpson and Candy Spelling to the annual Alliance for Women in Media’s Gracie Awards. The May 25 femme event at the Beverly Hilton not only honored Simpson and Spelling but also Amy Poehler, Sharon Gless and Jane Krakowski, who joked that the award made her feel like she’d just won an Oscar. “Thank you, thank you! This is for blonde, Polish girls everywhere!” she cried.
In accepting her Gracie, Poehler looked at the TelePrompter and blurted out, “My thing just says ‘Poehler, 60 seconds, remarks.’ ”
Tyne Daly roused the audience with her pass-off to Gless. “Between us we are 130 years old,” Daly announced, “and 11% of this time I worked with Sharon Gless — back in the 1900s — 300 years ago,” Daly said, referring to their “Cagney and Lacey” days.
For her part, Gless opined, “I act and I am a woman, and that makes me an actress.”
