‘General Hospital’ leads Emmy race

ABC soap nabs 18 nominations

Venerable ABC soap “General Hospital” led all shows with 18 nominations as the list of Daytime Emmy nominees were revealed Wednesday morning by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Among the talkshow competitors, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” fared best with eight noms.

Of all the networks, PBS scored the most noms with 53.

Agnes Nixon, who created both “One Life to Live” and “All My Children,” will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Daytime Emmys will take place June 27 and, for the first time, be held in Las Vegas. Telecast will air on CBS.
