“Friends with Benefits” sets showrunner

Sitcom vet Ira
Ungerleider has signed on to serve as showrunner and exec producer of the NBC
midseason laffer “Friends with Benefits,” from 20th Century Fox TV and Imagine
TV.

As part of the deal
Ungerleider has also cut a blind script deal with 20th.

“Friends” revolves
around a group of twentysomething singles trying to navigate the dating world.
It hails from “500 Day of Summer” scribes Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber
and “Wedding Crashers” helmer David Dobkin. Also exec producing are Jeff
Kleeman, David Nevins and Brian Grazer.

Ungerleider’s laffer
credits include “Friends,” “Ladies Man” and most recently, “How I Met Your
Mother” and “Gary Unmarried.”
