Fox takes Sony TV’s animated trio

'So Cal,' 'Swell,' 'Sunflower' in the works

Sony Pictures TV has landed a trio of animated projects at Fox, including one from Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison shingle.

Projects are all pilot presentations, as Fox looks to develop a new round of animated series.

So Cal,” from exec producers Josh Faure-Brac and Doug Robinson, centers on a family that looks to escape the technology-driven world by finding a more laid-back existence in Southern California.

Another project, unofficially titled “Swell,” comes from Kevin Cecil and Andy Riley, as well as Anthony and Joe Russo.

Animated pilot presentation centers on a family from the 1950s that is somehow transported to the modern day.

Cecil’s credits include “Hyperdrive” and “Slacker Cats,” while Riley was behind “Robbie the Reindeer.” The Russo brothers are behind NBC’s “Community” as well as ABC’s upcoming “Happy Endings.”

Then there’s “Sunflower Ponds,” an animated project from both Sony and 20th Century Fox TV.

Jamie Tarses’ Fanfare shingle is also behind the presentation, which centers on two bizarre brothers who disturb a peaceful suburban neighborhood when they move in.

Reed Agnew and Eli Jorne, whose credits include “Crank Yankers,” are exec producers, along with “The Simpsons” alum Donick Cary and Tarses.

Sony partnered with 20th to produce the animated series “Sit Down, Shut Up” for Fox last year.
