'Mentes en Shock' follows psychiatrist, disturbed twin

Fox Intl. Channels Spain and Fox Latin America are teaming for the first time to co-produce a Spanish-language skein for their respective markets.

Inspired by FIC’s “Mental,” the first English-lingo skein made in Latin America, “Mentes en Shock” (Minds in Shock, a working title) concerns a Spanish hospital psychiatrist searching for his lost, mentally disturbed twin sister.

“We found it more cost-effective to make one series for both Spanish and Latin American markets rather than separate versions,” said Emiliano Saccone, FIC exec VP, global development. Scribes are Argentina’s Susana Cardozo and Pablo Lago, whose credits include the Latino feature adaptation of “High School Musical.” Alejandro Tous (Spain’s “Ugly Betty”) plays the lead. The 13 one-hour episodes are being produced at Fox Telecolombia in Bogota where “Mental” was made.
