Fox hustles ‘Dance’

Show moves out of Tuesday spotlight

Fox is moving out “So You Think You Can Dance” out of the Tuesday night crosshairs.

The night was shaping up to be a Summer smackdown, with “Dance” going up against NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” and ABC’s “Wipeout.” CBS usually airs “Big Brother” on the night in summer as well.

Given that “Dance” remains an important summer franchise for Fox, the net opted to shift it to Wednesdays and Thursdays. That means Gordon Ramsay’s “Hell’s Kitchen,” which had been scheduled for Thursdays, will now shift to Tuesdays, starting June 1.

The final two original episodes of “Glee” will air behind “Hell’s Kitchen” on June 1 at June 8. The competish then goes to two hours on June 15.

“Hell’s Kitchen” will revert to one-hour editions starting July 27, however, when the new food competition “Masterchef” bows that night at 9 p.m.

As previously planned, “Dance” will launch on Thursday, May 27 — the night after the “American Idol” finale — but will now stay put on the night. Two-hour ediitons will air until June 10, when “Glee” repeats run at 8 p.m., followed by the “Dance” recap show at 9 p.m.

Two-hour editions of “Dance” will now run on Wednesdays starting June 2.

The rest of Fox’s summer sked is mostly unchanged. “Lie to Me” and newcomer “The Good Guys” air on Mondays, while “Past Life” and “House” run on Fridays for the first part of June, and then “Bones” and “House” repeats after that.

Fox’s one Sunday tweak comes as “Sons of Tucson” was yanked off the in-season schedule. That means leftover originals of “Tucson” will now run on the night at 7:30 starting June 6.
