Exec has long history at Discovery
Ion Media Networks has named former Discovery Communications exec John Ford as prexy of programming.
In his new title, Ford will oversee the net’s content acquisitions and exploration of creating originals, as well as scheduling, creative strategy and positioning. He’ll work closely with Marc Zand, who was promoted to exec VP of content acquisitions and digital networks.
Ford has spent much of his career at Discovery, where he was co-exec in charge of production on the cabler’s recent highly publicized nonfiction series “Life.”
Ion’s primetime slate is dominated by such off-network fare as “Criminal Minds,” “Ghost Whisperer” and “Without a Trace,” as well as feature films.
