HBO show moving from TBS to Comcast cablers
The ladies of “Sex and the City” are walking in their Manolo Blahniks to E!After more than six years on TBS, the Sarah Jessica Parker-starring series will arrive on the Comcast cabler beginning in January. E!, as well as sister net Style, has rights to all six seasons of the show. Skein first ran on HBO from 1998-2004 before offnet rights were sold to TBS, which made it pillar of its primetime landscape. ” ‘Sex and the City’ is an anthem for women today. The series has remained a pop culture phenomenon for over 10 years and still attracts new fans,” said Cyndi McClellan, exec VP of program strategy and research. Michael Patrick King, John Melfi, Cindy Chupack, Jenny Bicks and Parker exec produce the series that was based on the book by Candace Bushnell. Comcast previously secured rights from New Line Cinema for the film “Sex and the City,” which E! will debut July 2012. Upcoming theatrical sequel “Sex and the City 2″ debuts May 27.
