Turner cabler signs reality show staple

Dr. Drew Pinsky is set to dish out advice on HLN.

The physician who has become a reality staple in recent years has been hired by the Turner cabler to host a still-untitled primetime series set to launch in the spring.

Pinsky and VH1 have partnered on several shows, including “Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew,” “Sober House” and “Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew.” He has also been a radio personality for decades fielding callers’ sexual questions on the syndicated “Loveline.”

“Dr. Drew informs and inspires audiences on subjects that matter most to them and their families, and he is an ideal fit for the HLN network,” said HLN topper Scott Safon. Added Pinsky: “I am thrilled to join HLN and I have no doubt that the natural fit I feel at the network will provide the opportunity to explore the stories behind the story and really explain the choices that people make.”

Safon was promoted to run HLN in September when former CNN boss Jon Klein was fired. Ken Jautz, who programmed an HLN lineup that includes “The Joy Behar Show,” was then hired by CNN.
