Campbell stars in telepic shooting in Colombia
Jeffrey Donovan, star of bellwether USA series “Burn Notice,” will direct its prequel movie airing on the cabler next spring and starring series co-star Bruce Campbell.
“Burn Notice” creator and showrunner Matt Nix will write the two-hour telepic, which sends Campbell’s Sam Axe to deal with a faction of Colombian rebels in late 2005.
Nix, Donovan and Campbell all share exec producer credits alongside Mikkel Bondsen. Fox TV Studios is producing.
The film will begin shooting on location in Bogota in January.
Wrapping up its fourth season this month, “Burn Notice” has averaged 7.3 million viewers overall and 3.1 million in adults 18-49, making it basic cable’s most-watched scripted show.
Donovan made his directing debut with an episode of the series that aired in June.
