Comedian signs deal with network

Comedian Demetri Martin has a signed a blind script deal with CBS to star, write and produce his own show.

Standup won’t be returning to Comedy Central, where his “Important Things With Demetri Martin” aired for two seasons. The show, produced by Jon Stewart’s Busboy Prods., involved Martin in a variety of sketches, while also having the host engaging in some repartee with the audience.

By signing Martin, the Eye may be aiming to strive for a younger aud — one that has come to the net in recent years with “The Big Bang Theory” and “How I Met Your Mother.”

Martin has appeared in HBO’s “Flight of the Conchords,” as well as acting as a correspondent in Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart.”
