‘Dad’s’ turning 100

20th TV celebrates toon's centennial episode

To hear him tell it, Thursday’s milestone “American Dad” celebration was a surprise party for co-creator and star Seth MacFarlane.

“My schedule said, ‘American Dad party,’ and I said, ‘Oh, OK, that sounds fun,’ ” said the voice of Stan Smith, who added he only learned that day that “Dad” had reached the 100-episode mark.

“That’s when they bestow upon you the privilege of being rerun at 5 o’clock in the afternoon next to ‘Charles in Charge,’ ” he said of Fox, only half-jokingly.

Guests swarmed the outdoor area of the Parlor Hollywood where 20th Television hosted the Fox net party and co-creator Mike Barker ruminated on the show’s future.

“I cannot yet tell you that we have a seventh season,” he said. “What I can tell you is that last week’s checks will clear.”
