CW resurrects CBS’ ‘Moonlight’

Moonlight You can never have too many vampire series — and by definition, they’re timeless, right?  That pretty much explains how the CW came to bring back “Moonlight,” the drama that vanished into the night two years ago from corporate sibling CBS, for its summer airwaves.

Starting June 3, the CW will air reruns of “Moonlight” on Thursdays at 9, paired with encore presentations of frosh hit “The Vampire Diaries.” The series starred Alex O’Laughlin, who will probably be prepping his third attempt at a CBS success — the “Hawaii Five-O” remake — while “Moonlight” gets its reprise.

O’Laughlin also appeared on the short-lived “Three Rivers” for CBS last fall — so maybe we’ll get to see a trifecta of O’Laughlin as part of summer’s annual Burn-Off Theater on the broadcast networks.

Reruns of “Moonlight” previously aired on SyFy under its ancestral name, SciFi.
