CNN’s ‘Heroes’ makes us all feel guilty … and lazy

In a nonstop 24/7 world where way too much attention is paid to Lindsay Lohan and Snooki, it’s actually nice to sit back and reflect on people who make a difference.Anderson_cooper

Programming-wise, CNN hasn’t done much right lately, but its annual “Heroes: An All-Star Tribute” presentation is one of the feel-good shows of the year that deserves viewing. While we’re all too busy checking our Blackberrys every 20 seconds when we should be slowing down and focusing on what’s really important in our lives, the folks at the cabler rightly focus on ordinary citizens who sacrifice themselves — and often time with their families — to help others.

Among the selfless acts of this year’s honorees are individuals who’ve helped build a hospital, improved the health of those immensely overweight and provided meals to hungry children.

This year’s presentation tapes Nov. 20 at the Shrine Auditorium (event moved from the Kodak Theater) and airs a few days later on Thanksgiving night. Among the celebs introducing the top 10 heroes are Halle Berry, Demi Moore and Eva Longoria Parker. Bon Jovi and Sugarland are set to perform.

Joel Gallen will once again exec produce and “360” host Anderson Cooper will emcee.
