Celebs pitch in at pediatric AIDS benefit
The June gloom did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm at Sunday’s a Time for Heroes Celebrity Picnic sponsored by Disney. The event raised well over $1 million for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
Celebs worked it in the carnival booths: Carl Reiner and Seth Green read in the storytime corner, gold medalist Evan Lysacek painted faces, Dick Van Dyke performed a special tune and Nigel Barker helped revelers assemble kits headed for expectant mothers in Africa and India. Also lending their time were ABC prexy Bob Iger and wife Willow Bay, Denise Richards, Jamie Pressly and Laila Ali, among others.
Not only is the eradication of pediatric AIDS an important cause, Richards said, “I don’t have to leave my kids at home for this event.”
