Calfo replaces David Nevins, who announced his exit earlier this month to take the entertainment presidency at Showtime.
Calfo is currently exec producer on ABC’s summer series “Scoundrels.” She’s been working as an independent producer, having most recently been set up at ABC Studios.
As an exec at Touchstone (now known as ABC Studios), Calfo helped develop “Alias” and “CSI” under boss Steve McPherson. She eventually left the studio to try her hand at production (including “Life”), but reunited with McPherson as his key lieutenant when he was named ABC’s entertainment prexy in 2004.
Nonetheless, Calfo told McPherson she wouldn’t return to the exec suite for long — and indeed opted departed the network at the end of 2006.
Calfo helped McPherson return ABC to strength, developing shows such as “Ugly Betty” and “Brothers & Sisters.”
At Imagine, Calfo will work closely with Imagine partner Brian Grazer, as well as with execs at 20th Century Fox TV (where Imagine TV is based).
Imagine TV’s current roster includes “Parenthood,” “Friday Night Lights,” “Lie to Me” and the midseason entry “Friends with Benefits.”
