DiSpirito to judge chefs in new competition series

Bravo is setting a place at its table for “Rocco’s Dinner Party.”

The NBC Universal cabler, which has had success with the “Top Chef” franchise, has given the greenlight for the competition series that features celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito. Skein has been in development since spring.

Each episode will focus on four chefs who will prepare a menu, in addition to setting the table and creating a proper ambience for the event. At the end of each episode, DiSpirito announces the dinner party’s theme for the next week and the remaining three chefs present a menu for the soiree.

Casting is under way, and production is set to begin next year.

DiSpirito has a history at NBC. In 2003-04, he starred in Peacock reality skein “The Restaurant.” He’s also been a guest judge on Bravo’s “Top Chef.”

Series will be produced by Bravo and Notional. Dave Noll, Chachi Senior and Christopher Stout are exec producers.
