CBS, ABC, Fox make top three in prime time

With “The Big Bang Theory” leading the way, CBS won Thursday primetime in the 18-49 demo and total viewers. ABC was second on the night, thanks largely to “Grey’s Anatomy.”

According to preliminary nationals by Nielsen, “Big Bang” (4.3 rating/13 share in 18-49, 13.1 million viewers overall) easily won at 8 p.m. for CBS. “Bleep My Dad Says” (3.1/9, 10.3 million) surrendered approximately a quarter of that audience at 8:30 p.m., but nevertheless kept the Eye ahead of the competition: Fox’s “Bones” (2.7/8, 9.4 million), ABC’s “Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” (2.2/6, 7.4 million) and NBC sitcoms “Community” (1.9/6, 4.4 million) and “30 Rock” (2.3/6, 5.2 million).

ABC then leapfrogged into the lead in the 18-49 demo at 9 p.m. with “Grey’s Anatomy” (4.3/11, 11.4 million), which topped Peacock comedies “The Office” (3.7/10, 7.2 million) and “Outsourced” (2.7/7, 5.5 million) along with CBS’ “CSI” (3.1/8, 14.2 million) and Fox’s “Fringe” (1.9/5, 4.9 million).

“The Office” was tops among adults 18-34 at 9 p.m., while “Outsourced” equalled its best 18-49 numbers since Sept. 30.

At 10 p.m., CBS’ “The Mentalist” (3.0/9, 14.7 million) scored a narrow victory in the demo — and wide victory in total viewers — over ABC’s “Private Practice” (2.9/9, 8.1 million). NBC continues to take a bath at 10 p.m. with “The Apprentice” (1.2/3, 3.6 million), which hit a series low.

The CW aired reruns of “The Vampire Diaries” (1.1/3, 3.0 million) and “Nikita” (1.1/3, 3.4 million) because Chicago and Miami were showing the Bears-Dolphins game on their CW affiliates.

Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: CBS 3.3/9, ABC 3.1/9, Fox 2.3/6, NBC 2.2/6, Univision 1.6/4, CW 1.1/3.

In total viewers: CBS 13.5 million, ABC 9.0 million, Fox 7.2 million, NBC 4.9 million, Univision 3.8 million, CW 3.2 million.
