BBC America goes ‘Outcast’

Blighty's U.S. arm will co-produce futuristic series

BBC America, BBC and Kudos Film and TV will co-produce futuristic drama “Outcasts,” for distribution by BBC Worldwide.

Starring Eric Mabius (“Ugly Betty”), Liam Cunningham “Clash of the Titans”) and Hermione Norris (“MI-5”), “Outcasts” tells the story — with an emphasis on power, politics and sex — of a group of refugees from Earth setting up a new society on a recently discovered planet in 2040.

Ben Richards (“MI-5”) created the hourlong series, which has an eight-episode order and is being shot in South Africa. Jane Featherstone, Simon Crawford-Collins, Faith Penhale and Matthew Read are exec producing.
