‘Bachelorette’ continues to woo auds

ABC reality show hits summer high in ratings

As it has every week this summer, “The Bachelorette” carried ABC to a sizable victory in key demos on Monday — hitting a summer high in the process. CBS fared best among the other nets despite a regular all-repeat lineup.

According to preliminary nationals from Nielsen, “The Bachelorette” earned a strong 3.3 rating/10 share in adults 18-49 and 9.9 million viewers overall from 8 to 10 p.m., rising 6% week to week; the show wraps its season on Aug. 2.

ABC, which won the night in total viewers as well as key demos, also received a solid performance from the season finale of reality series “True Beauty” (1.9/6 in 18-49, 5.5 million viewers overall), which led the broadcasters in all key categories at 10 o’clock.

At CBS, encores of “How I Met Your Mother” (1.5/5 in 18-49, 4.6 million viewers overall) and “Rules of Engagement” (1.7/5 in 18-49, 5.1 million viewers overall) placed second or third in most categories in the opening hour, and the net then moved into a more solid second-place position from 9 to 10 p.m. with repeats of “Two and a Half Men” (2.1/6 in 18-49, 7.6 million viewers overall) and “The Big Bang Theory” (2.4/7 in 18-49, 7.7 million viewers overall) — the top-rated scripted series of the night. And closing things out was a repeat of “CSI: Miami” (1.4/4 in 18-49, 5.4 million viewers overall).

Fox did well enough opening the night with “Lie to Me” (1.8/6 in 18-49, 5.6 million viewers overall) but then fell off sharply as usual with “The Good Guys” (1.1/3 in 18-49, 3.6 million viewers overall).

NBC aired a repeat “America’s Got Talent” (1.2/4 in 18-49, 4.8 million viewers overall), followed by “Last Comic Standing” (1.6/5 in 18-49, 4.2 million viewers overall) and “Dateline” (1.4/4 in 18-49, 5.0 million viewers overall).

And CW offered up repeats of “90210” (0.4/1 in 18-49, 1.2 million viewers overall) and “Gossip Girl” (0.3/1 in 18-49, 0.9 million viewers overall), which will air as a Monday combo this fall.

Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: ABC, 2.8/9; CBS, 1.8/5; NBC, 1.4/4; Fox, 1.4/4; CW, 0.4/1.

In total viewers: ABC, 8.5 million; CBS, 6.0 million; NBC, 4.7 million; Fox, 4.6 million; Univision, 3.7 million; CW, 1.1 million.
